Adolescent Counseling and Coaching: supports young people dealing with the period of life called ‘adolescence’, usually 10-18 years of age in which the most dramatic changes occur physically, psychologically, and socially. Various approaches and methods are used to address the problematic behaviors and physical/psychological symptoms that are a result of a child’s struggles to deal with family, friends, school, everyday life, and society. Therapists in this line of specialty include: social workers, counselors, public health nurses, psychiatrists, educators and life coaches with knowledge in psychotherapy, and various techniques in family counseling, group dynamics, case management, and creative learning. The goal is to support the adolescent to gain self-esteem, establish healthy boundaries, and acquire the tools with which to be able to function capably in an adult world.
